To the glory of God alone: Romans 11v32-12v1
(Romans 11:32-12:1)

Speaker Jonny Grant, on June 4, 2017
Part of the Glorious Salvation series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Glorious Salvation
- To the glory of God alone: Romans 11v32-12v1 (page 1139)

Who gets the glory?
‘Christ the Son of God was given, not for the righteous and holy, but for the unrighteous and sinners. If I were righteous and had no sin, I should have no need of Christ to be my reconciler. Therefore let us praise God the Father, and give him a hearty thanks for this His immeasurable mercy, that He has delivered us out of the Kingdom of the devil by His own Son, when such was impossible to be done by our own strength. Let us extol and magnify the glory of Christ, who has delivered us into the Kingdom of whom be glory, world without end. Amen!’
Martin Luther

The Glory of God displayed
- The riches of God
- The plan of God
- The gift of God

The Glory of God declared
- To God be the glory
‘And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory.’ Ephesians 1v13-14

- All of life to the glory of God
‘We are both joyful and happy because of Christ in whom so many benefits are conferred upon us – therefore it is our one occupation to serve God joyfully without thought of gain.’ Martin Luther

‘Although the Christian is free from all works (= to earn salvation) he ought in his liberty to empty himself, take upon himself the form of a servant and serve, help, and in every way deal with his neighbour as he sees God through Christ has dealt with him and still deals with him.’ Martin Luther

Romans 11:32-12:1

32For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. 33O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! 34For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counseller? 35Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? 36For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. (KJV)
