Dealing with Depression – Monday 7th November

Dealing With DepressionMon 7th Nov 2016: 7.30pm to 8.30pm Carrigaline Community Centre

Dr Ivan Watson MB BCh BAO a former GP turned pastor guides us through this common struggle with reflections and information from science & spirituality.

Ivan trained as a medical doctor and worked as a GP before becoming a Christian Pastor. He now lives in Cavan and is married to Carol who works as a psychiatric doctor. They have three children aged from 12 to 18. Both Ivan & Carol became interested in mental illness while they were medical students. Ivan talked with many depressed people during his time working in hospitals and as a GP. He acknowledges the usefulness of current treatments for depression in many cases but also senses the need for counseling which takes our spiritual dimension into account. This was one of the factors that led him to leave medical practice and become a full time pastor. This has brought him into contact with many people troubled by a range of issues including depression, anxiety, abuse, addiction and suicidal thoughts. Ivan has a heart for helping people through presenting information and dealing with individual questions.

The audio from the talk is now available for playback below:

The Rock is back!

…and we’re back!

“The Rock 4 Kids” is starting back in September.

The Rock is a fun filled club that helps primary school children to learn about Jesus from the Bible and includes games, crafts, singing and more!

The Rock - Teaching

This year we’re moving from a once a month format to a twice a month format.

We’re also excited to announce that The Rock will now be in two groups – one for juniors (Junior Infants up 2nd class) and a second group just for the older ones (3rd class to 6th). We’re sure that the kids will enjoy the more age specific focus and activities that we will now be able to run.

For all the dates, times and details check out “The Rock 4 Kids”.
